About me
I am the Foto Optimist: Ronald Kaestner and I am an independent photographer from Cologne. The streets are my stage and the photo studio in one. My intention is to take unique pictures, from the daily life of the streets and also in a contemporary sense. The human is the center of my pictures and I prefer the candid and authentic approach. On the other hand, sometimes I go in contact and ask for a street portrait.
Street Photography can be done mostly every time and in many places. You have just to do it and with obsession.
The pictures from famous photographers like, Alex Webb, Fan Ho, Fred Stein, Gerhard Weber, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Elliott Erwitt, Saul Leiter, Steve McCurry, Alan Schaller, Thomas Leuthard, Phil Penman, and especially Vivian Maier are for me the proof, for authentic and historic valuable Street Photography. Exhibitions, documentary and further publications, shows the the big interest for this kind of photo art. I give a lot to evolve my street skills, to deliver my part.

Über mich
Ich bin der Foto Optimist: Ronald Kästner und freier Fotograf aus Köln. Die Straße ist meine Bühne und Fotostudio in einem. Einzigartige Situationen im Alltag festzuhalten und für die Zukunft zu bewahren, habe ich mir zur Aufgabe gemacht. Dabei steht der Mensch im Mittelpunkt, den ich bevorzugt authentisch und ungestellt in einer Aufnahme festhalte. Zuweilen trete ich gern in Kontakt und bitte um ein Straßen Portrait.
Straßenfotografie kann fast jederzeit und vielerorts ausgeübt werden, man muss es einfach nur tun und sich ihr vollends hingeben!
Die Fotos weltbekannter Fotografen, wie Alex Webb, Fan Ho, Fred Stein, Gerhard Weber, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Elliott Erwitt, Saul Leiter, Steve McCurry, Alan Schaller, Thomas Leuthard, Phil Penman, und vor allem Vivian Maier sind für mich Beweis, für authentische und historisch wertvolle Straßenfotografie. Ausstellungen, Dokumentation und weitere Veröffentlichungen, zeigen das große Interesse an dieser Fotokunst. Ich bin fest entschlossen mich in diesem Bereich weiter zu entwickeln, um meinen Beitrag zu leisten.
